VIP Opening Night Event FAQ

VIP Opening Night Event FAQ

April 26, 2021

Where is the event located?

Our Opening Night event will be held at Kowloon Restaurant – 948 Broadway, Saugus, MA 01906. The restaurant is right on Route 1. Kowloon has transformed part of their large parking lot space into a drive-in theater, so our entire event will take place outside.

When is the event?

The Opening Night event will take place on Wednesday, May 26th. “Doors” open at 6:30pm and we’ll have two hours of time for dinner and drinks. The showing of Songs for a New World will begin at 8:30, after the sun has set. You can arrive at any time that you like between 6:30 and 8:30 PM. The show will run approximately 90 minutes, and all patrons must exit by 10:30pm

Should we have inclement weather, the event will happen at the same time the following week – Wednesday, June 2nd. In that case, we will make the decision by noon on 5/26 and alert all attendees of our plans to move to the rain date.

How do I get admission to the event? Can I buy a ticket?

At this time, admission to the Opening Night event is exclusively offered as a benefit for those who sponsor our production of Songs for a New World. Should we have availability, we may offer parking spots to the public as we get closer to the event.

We do anticipate that this event will sell out and that all spots will be taken by sponsors.

If you have questions about attendance or guests, please email Alex Lonati at alexlonati@speakeasystage.com.

What does the space look like? Will I watch the show from my car?

While you are welcome to stay in your car to watch the show (you can tune into a specific radio station to get the sound), each spot comes with a corresponding, socially distanced “turf spot” with a table and some chairs. There are a number of parking spots that line up directly in front of the movie screen (and thus have unobstructed views), while others are farther away or to the side.

To get the best experience (both seeing the screen and to enjoy your meal), we do recommend staying on your assigned “turf spot”. Social distancing guidelines will not allow for congregating in groups off of the turf spots.

What are the options for food and beverage?

Guests will have the opportunity to purchase dinner and drinks from a special outdoor bar that Kowloon has set up alongside its drive-in (with a socially-distanced queue). The full menu is available. Guests can order at the bar and then have their meals delivered right to their table or car.

Please note: consumption of alcoholic drinks is not permitted inside your vehicle. If you are planning to enjoy alcoholic beverages with your meal, we recommend that you utilize the associated “turf spot”, sitting at your table.

What do I need to bring with me?

While there will be a table and some chairs available, if you would prefer to bring your own seating, you are welcome. Additionally, we recommend bringing anything that will make your stay more comfortable, including layers or blankets (in case of inclement weather) and bug spray. Guests are not permitted to bring their own food or drinks.

Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on the turf, as it is an extension of the restaurant.

How many guests am I allowed to bring with me? Can they meet me there?

Each parking spot and corresponding “turf” spot allows a maximum of six individuals. Space within the turf spot is tight and does not allow for social distancing within your group of six. So we recommend that you invite guests with whom you feel comfortable being in close proximity.

Should your guests want to drive separately, they can park elsewhere in Kowloon’s parking lot and walk over to the drive-in space. A SpeakEasy staff member will check them in and direct them to your assigned spot.

What is the dress code?

There is no dress code! You should wear whatever makes you comfortable, though we recommend bringing a jacket or sweater in case it is cold after dark.

Please also bring a mask, as they will be required when not eating or drinking (so anywhere not on your turf spot).

Will there be restrooms available?

Yes. There will be restroom trailers available for our guests to use.

Additional Note about Safety:

At this time, we anticipate that masks will be required except when eating or drinking on your assigned turf spot or in your car.
