Meet the Cast: Nael Nacer

January 6, 2015

We’re pleased to introduce you to the actors in our World Premiere production of A FUTURE PERFECT.  The play centers on four friends whose relationships are put to the test when a pregnancy forces them to reexamine what they want from their lives and from each other.

Read below about actor Nael Nacer, who plays Alex in A FUTURE PERFECT.

How would you describe your character?

Alex is an interesting combination of laid-back and neurotic. He gets very excited about music. He might think he’s adaptable, but really he’s just bottling things up.

How has your experience been affected by having the playwright in the room?

It’s amazing to have Ken in the room. First of all he’s hilarious, so rehearsals are a lot of fun. And of course he knows these characters in and out, so his presence has been an invaluable to the process. He’s also great about letting us find answers on our own, which has given us a great deal of room in which to play.

What do you feel is the draw of presenting new works?

As an actor, it’s a gift to be able to be part of that process. You’re involved with introducing something that’s never been seen in a full production. It’s very exciting. I feel the same way as a theatre goer. It’s very special to see a new play, and to hear a new voice. And it’s vital to our theatrical landscape to have world premieres in Boston. There are some beautiful plays by wonderful playwrights that we’re lucky to have in Boston. Ken lives in New York now but the development of this play has a deep connection to Boston.

When was the first moment where you realized that you were officially an adult?

I’m constantly having remind myself that I’m an adult!

If you were to create a playlist representing your character, what would be a song or two on it?

“I Don’t Wanna Grow Up” by Tom Waits

“Harder Before it Gets Easier” by David Wax Museum

“Little Room” by The White Stripes
