What is the ROAR?

Fasten your seatbelt...

"I don't want realism! I want magic!"
- Blanche Dubois in A Streetcar Named Desire

What is the Roar?
Apart from being SpeakEasy’s largest fundraising effort of the year, the Roar is an immersive and magical theatrical experience and one hell of a party!

What is the Roar's purpose?
The Roar raises more than 10% of all funds each season to support SpeakEasy's award-winning productions, talented and dedicated artists, technicians and staff, and many outreach programs, including our Student Matinee Series and ASL-Interpreted Series. It is also a celebration of our season and a way to honor the many people who support us.

Will there be entertainment?
It wouldn’t be SpeakEasy without entertainment! Expect to find classic stars and starlets from the Golden Age of Hollywood milling about the room, a jazz combo, performances of songs from the most beloved musicals of the time, and a handful of surprises.

Will there be food and drink?
Yes, a light, sophisticated and beautifully presented reception service of passed and plated items will be available along with a cash bar. Instead of the traditional sit-down, “rubber chicken” experience, you’ll find yourself in an active, engaging, mix-and-mingle atmosphere conducive to socializing and catching up with friends, old and new.

Will there be a chance to win prizes?

Yes! Similar to last year’s Roar, there will be a Great Escape Raffle vacation package (prize TBA), several Hollywood-themed game booths where guests can pay to win prizesand a traditional silent auction component for high end prize packages.
