We’re pleased to introduce you to the actors in our New England Premiere production of BIG FISH.  The play tells the story of Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman known for his tall tales and charismatic personality. When his adult son Will discovers he is about to become a father, he sets out to discover the truth behind his father’s larger-than-life adventures.

Will’s wife Josephine is played by SpeakEasy newcomer Katie Clark. Read our interview to find out more.

Where are you from?

Medford, MA.

Have you worked with SpeakEasy prior?

No! Debut!!!

Could you tell us a bit about the role you are playing?

Josephine is a TV reporter that is married to Edward’s son, Will. She’s compassionate and kind and loves hearing Edward’s stories. She’s practical and intelligent like Will, but also has an appreciation for fun and whimsy and romance like Edward.

What are you looking forward to in this process?

I’m thrilled to be making my SpeakEasy debut and getting to work with Paul [Daigneault], Larry [Sousa], and Matt [Stern] all for the first time too!

Can you share a favorite memory of a parent?

When I was a baby, my mother would play “the faces game” with me. She would say an emotion and I would do the assigned face: Angry, Happy, Sad. But eventually she would have me do more difficult expressions: Disappointment. Admiration. Indifference! I swear it’s how I got into acting and performing. Even as a baby I would make funny faces and perform. I owe everything to her. 🙂
