
Artistic Fellowship
Details:
SpeakEasy Stage Company seeks an Artistic Fellow for the 2012-2013 Season. The Fellowship Program is designed for recent graduates (undergraduate or graduate) and career changers with a strong background in theatre who are interested in pursuing a career as an artistic director of a theatre company. The fellowship provides training and educational opportunities that will supplement a strong theatre education and act as a bridge for early career arts administrators between their academic experience and a professional career in theatre. Working closely with the Producing Artistic Director, the Artistic Fellow will gain mentorship, career-guidance, and hands-on experience through independent and collaborative projects, including auditions and casting, dramaturgy and literary management, season development, and general administrative duties.
Successful candidates will have:
- A high level of motivation and a passion for theatre
- The ability to work effectively in a highly-collaborative environment
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, and Adobe
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Drive, initiative, and professionalism
- Excellent creative problem-solving, brainstorming, and multi-tasking skills
Job Type: Fellowship; 30-35 hours/week with occasional evening and weekend events
Stipend: $200/weekly
Duration: August 1st, 2012 - June 30th, 2013

- A copy of your most recent academic transcript from an accredited college or university in a sealed envelope from the institution
- Three letters of recommendation from former employers, professors, or supervisors; At least one must be from a staff member of an arts organization or a theatre professor

- Why you are interested in the fellowship at this time
- The qualities, skills, and interests that make you the best candidate for this fellowship
- What you are hoping to gain from the fellowship experience
- What impact or transformation you would like to have in the Boston theatre community
- A description of your career goals
- A brief description of one of the following (no more than one page):
- The most moving piece of theatre you’ve ever seen
- An artist who inspires you
