SpeakEasy Stage Company's mission is to connect, inspire, and challenge our audiences with the most socially relevant theatrical premieres featuring the most talented artists in Boston.

  • We believe that live theater must be an intimate and entertaining experience. We strive to go above and beyond for our audience to create an environment that is professional, comfortable, and fun.
  • We focus on producing quality theatre performances while fostering teamwork and efficiency to achieve excellence.
  • We trust each other and treat all of our artists, volunteers, and patrons with respect, courtesy, compassion, and honesty.

SpeakEasy Stage Company has distinguished itself as Boston's premiere theater, consistently winning acclaim for presenting top-quality productions of vital, cutting-edge plays and musicals. SpeakEasy's artistic success has garnered us numerous awards, including five Elliot Norton Awards in 2010. We also received the 2008 StageSource Theatre Hero Award for our dedication to nurturing and supporting Boston area theatre artists and for our leadership and inspiration to the theatre community of Greater Boston. SpeakEasy was named the Pavilion Resident Theater for the Boston Center for the Arts in 2007 and produces 28 weeks of new plays and musicals each season at the Nancy and Ed Roberts Studio Theater.

SpeakEasy's shows make the South End a destination for artists, tourists, and theatre patrons. We are committed to keeping theatre vital in Boston through our longstanding tradition of intimate, live performances. SpeakEasy is dedicated to fostering the development of young audiences, artists, and arts administrators, and we nurture their growth over time. We are proud to employ more than 125 Boston-based actors, designers, and production staff annually.

We encourage you to become a member of SpeakEasy's growing subscriber family. As a subscriber, you will enjoy the best seats and lowest possible prices for every show in our season. We'd also like to invite you to get involved with SpeakEasy by donating, auditioning or volunteering your time.
